Radio Friendly Rewind

A nostalgic, online tribute to Cork’s legendary pirate station — rewinding the vibe of the 90s and e

Radio Friendly was a much-loved pirate radio station in Cork, Ireland, broadcasting mainly through the 1990s and early 2000s. It beamed out a genuine alternative to the mainstream — house, techno, hip-hop and everything in between — at a time when national stations barely touched the underground. Run by passionate volunteer DJs who did it for the love of the music, Radio Friendly captured the energy of Cork’s club scene, especially the legendary Sir Henry’s. Names like Miss Ken D, Mr P, Stevie G and Greg & Shane (Fish Go Deep) became part of the city’s late-night soundtrack. Broadcasting without a licence on 104.6 FM (and later 104.0 FM), the station grew into Cork’s most successful pirate of its era, even winning Best Irish Dance Station at the Smirnoff Irish Dance Awards – beating legal national stations in the process. This stream isn’t the original station — it’s a fan-built, nostalgic rewind: a continuous tribute to the sounds, spirit and DIY culture that Radio Friendly brought to Cork’s youth and club culture in the 90s and early 2000s. Rewind Schedule (Ireland Time) Loose vibes, not strict playlists – just like the old days.
